Seventeen candidates have put their name forward in the by-election for the Mayor of Rockhampton Regional Council. Capricorn Conservation Council has sent all these candidates a questionnaire to gauge their views on environment matters in Rockhampton.

So far, eight candidates have responded. They all support increasing Rockhampton’s tree canopy cover – both through street tree plantings and Council managed parks. They also (mostly) support protecting and managing Council’s natural areas through the ‘Bringing Nature Back’ program.
