INTRODUCING: Mitchell Blake- Thoolbar Designs, Gooreng Gooreng Artist

Capricorn Conservation Council proudly introduces our members, followers and friends to, Indigenous Artist- Mitchell Blake, Owner, Operator and Creator of Thoolbar Designs!

Hello, I’m Mitchell Blake, a proud Gooreng Gooreng and South Sea Islander man, with deep roots in the rich heritage of Bundaberg, located in the Wide Bay region of Queensland. My identity is a mosaic of cultures, extending respect to my Scottish and Irish heritage through my father’s side.

I am the owner of Thoolbar Designs, an Indigenous Digital Illustration business that serves as a canvas for storytelling. Through my artwork, I aim to weave together the threads of tradition and modernity, creating a vibrant tapestry that reflects the beauty and diversity of my heritage.

In addition to my artistic pursuits, I am actively engaged in the education sector as a Community Education Counsellor (CEC). This role allows me to contribute to the empowerment and growth of individuals within my community, fostering a sense of connection and pride in one’s cultural identity.

My journey into the world of digital illustration was catalyzed by the ReefCast team, who graciously invited me to be their illustrator for social media posts. This opportunity marked the beginning of my venture into sharing stories, not just for myself but for the broader community.

I am immensely thankful for the ability to share and create narratives through my platform and art. Each stroke of the digital brush is an expression of my passion for cultural preservation, education, and the celebration of diversity.

Join me on this creative journey as we explore the intersection of art, culture, and education, embracing the richness that comes from honoring the past while forging a path towards a brighter, more connected future.

Stay up to date on our SOCIALS as we launch Mitchell’s commissions for CCC- and make sure you are following THOOLBAR DESIGNS and ReefCast!
